Ann Mitchell is a Haudenosaunee (Mohawk) basket maker from Akwesasne NY who specializes in making colorful black ash and sweetgrass baskets. She enjoys experimenting with different color and design combinations to create a wide range of woven items like hats, vases, flowers, accessories and more. Basket making has been passed down in her family for many generations and she grew up watching her family members make baskets together. Her mother, Laura, taught her how to make a basket when she was a child but she didn't continue making baskets until 2011. From then on she decided to make baskets full-time. In March 2015, she created a Facebook page to share her work and Dream Weaver Basketry was born.
